Hi! I'm Caleb Kamm. My Godmother (I call her Auntie Betty) was diagnosed with breast cancer on Christmas Eve, 2019.

When mom told me, I was sad and scared. My Auntie Betty did so many things with me. She picked me up from preschool every week. We drove in her cool car with the top down. She even took me to see a superhero show in Providence!

Auntie Betty's cancer was a type my Mom calls "aggressive." Mom said that aggressive is a good word when I'm playing basketball, but it can also be a bad word. It meant that Auntie Betty's cancer spread quicker than other types of breast cancer.

Auntie Betty lost all of her hair. The first few times I saw her, I was scared. She looked so different! Mom asked me to focus on what’s the same about Auntie Betty, not what’s different. After a few visits, I realized that even though Auntie Betty looked different, she had the same happy smile and joyful laugh as she always did. That made me feel better.

During Covid, I didn’t see Auntie Betty much. She went to RI Hospital every week for cancer treatment and I didn’t like thinking about her alone there. Mom told me not to worry. She knew Auntie Betty was OK and said she’s probably beating someone at Candy Crush to pass the time. I’m not sure if she was doing that, but what I do know is...

AUNTIE BETTY BEAT CANCER!!!

I am so proud of her and thankful for the doctors, nurses, and scientists that help cancer patients every day. Please donate to my Auntie Betty’s team to help other women beat cancer too!
