Welcome Friends and Family!
It is that time of year again when we begin to gather donations to support the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation. While you might not know how awesome this foundation might be, it has sure been a great resource for my sister-in-law Christina right off from the start in March of 2019 when the original battle began. Whether it be from the food drop-offs, the connections or resources, it is truly the friendships and emails that will continue to put a smile on her face. For those of you who might not know, and for those that already do...I am looking for friends and family to help support and boost moral as Christina is back in it again, FIGHTING to beat this awful disease.
Her Recent Story:
What began as some back pain and symptoms of sciatica quickly took a turn back in June of 2021. Christina was called back for a second mammogram and as much as we were hoping for the best, we got the news that NO ONE wants to hear. The dreaded "C" was back and now it had spread we soon learned that it has metastasized to her bones and liver. As you can imagine, the flood of emotions just rolled in and our hearts sank. Our girl...a mom, wife, best friend, sister, sister-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, friend, and oh...so much more would now begin to take this fight on AGAIN!! Are you serious?? Yup... No joke!
So...as the days of summer vacations began, Christina's doctors' visits became more and more. She looked and longed for a second opinion and Dana Ferber was soon able to see her in Boston. It was there that her team of doctors decided to take this "C" by the horns and go at it full steam. She was admitted for a second time to the hospital at Brigham & Woman's where she would remain for about 9 days to get her numbers back to a safer zone. Right now, she is home trying to make the most of the summer days with Craig and their two girls while she also continues to fight the fight. She is strengthening her oxygen levels and working on battling her liver enzymes so that the next "battle" can begin in another area. We can only hope for the best and continue to support her on this everchanging adventure and we hope you will want to help her fight too! Our girl needs our support and we will do what we can to continue the fight!
