Hello friends and family!

If you don’t know who I am, my name is Jenn Taranto and I’m a wife and a mother to one handsome little
boy. In early November my life changed forever as I was diagnosed with stage 2, grade 3, triple negative breast cancer.

In December I started my chemo journey and in April I was able to finish it. After being hospitalized twice due to toxicities of the chemo, I’m still standing with my boxing gloves on!

I had my left breast (the one with the cancer) removed July 8th. My right breast had a benign tumor and was removed September 13. Mastectomies are now complete and again, Im still standing!

Now this would not have been possible without my families and friends support. There are not enough life times for me to repay everything they have done. From babysitting Jase, to making food, going to appointments with me, being a shoulder to cry on, to lean on, the list is endless.

There is one specific person I’d like to acknowledge and thank. A person so wonderful and special, she was indescribable. My mother in law, Noreen Taranto. She was a breast cancer survivor and believed in fighting with everything you got! She passed away on July 8th several years ago… but it still seems so raw, hurts so so freakin bad, like it happened yesterday.

As you read above, the day I had my cancer removed was on July 8th, coincidence? Certainly NOT! Noreen has made herself known to me throughout this ENTIRE journey! I know she is here, holding my hand, guiding the way… God, I love her. Our family grieves for her every day.

Which leads me to my WHY! Why have I decided to walk in this 5k? Noey was a fighter and she believed in lending her strength to others. She fundraised not just for breast cancer, but for hope among all types of cancer and ALS. She was a voice for those who feel voiceless. She was the strength for those who had little. I am doing this walk as a love letter to her!!!

I am in remission now, but my journey isn’t over yet. Not even close. But I am strong and I have strength to lend! So I will walk this 5K this year and hopefully every year. I’ll start my fundraising journey here, and if it can help even one person, then I know I’ve done my part.

So here’s to life! Here’s to fighting!

It seems appropriate to end with a quote loved by Noey. It’s not about the amount of years in your life, but the amount of life in your years ❤️
