This June, I will once again be walking in GloriDays, a multi-day journey in support of the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation. The Foundation is committed to helping support the minds, bodies and spirits of those affected by breast cancer with free wellness and education programs.
My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was a sophomore in high school. Fortunately she survived her diagnosis and I was able to enjoy an additional seven wonderful years with her. Unfortunately there were complications due to her treatment and she passed away five years ago during my senior year at Rhode Island College as I was working towards my teaching degree.
I will be walking 44 miles over the course of 3 days. This multi day walk is like no other; I will walk with women in treatment, survivors, families and caregivers. All walkers commit to raising $1,500 to participate in this incredible weekend. I can easily accomplish this with your donation. You can also leave a message for me about why you decided to donate. I’d love to hear from you! Your support will make a difference to the Foundation and inspire hope and courage in those affected by breast cancer.
The past two years I have raised most of the money from my annual fundraiser. This year that event is being pushed till later in the year and I am relying on donations from friends and family to allow me to participate this year.
If you can think of others who might be interested in making a donation, please forward this information to them or share it on social media! The Gloria Gemma Foundation is a great organization and you’d be helping them (and me!) by spreading the word.
Thank you so much for helping me reach my goal, and allowing me to walk in memory of my mother. I couldn’t do it without you!
