Since I was in my twenties, I’ve been diagnosed with benign breast conditions. Over the years, preventative care like mammograms, MRIs and biopsies became routine — and earlier this year, that routine quite literally changed my life.
I was diagnosed with Ductal carcinoma Grade 2, a non-invasive form of breast cancer. Thanks to early detection, I underwent surgery to remove the cancer with clear margins, followed by radiation and the start of hormone therapy.
So far, my journey has been relatively smooth; and for that, I am incredibly grateful. I know how different this story could have been.
I’m especially thankful for the support and encouragement I’ve received along the way. This has made all the difference, and I don’t take it for granted for a second.
I also recognize that not everyone is as fortunate. I had access to early screening and insurance coverage; lifesaving resources, and I want to help ensure that others have the same chance.
That’s why I’m raising funds for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, which provides education, access to care, and emotional support for individuals and families affected by breast cancer; right here in our local community.
Though I’m now at higher risk for invasive cancer, I’m committed to staying proactive, and helping others do the same.
Please consider donating. Together, we can empower more people with early detection, life-saving care, and unwavering support when they need it most.
Let’s make a difference together!
